With technological progress and digital connectivity making life increasingly fast-paced, Yoga offers an opportunity to pause, concentrate, reflect and reconnect with oneself, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan said on Friday, stressing its importance for physical and mental well-being.
Radhakrishnan was addressing the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Gordhandas Seksaria College of Yoga and Cultural Synthesis at Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala, Maharashtra.

The Vice-President highlighted the growing global acceptance of Yoga and recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sustained efforts to take its message to the international stage. He noted that Yoga is today practised across nations, cultures and communities.
Congratulating the college on completing 75 years of dedicated service to Yoga education, research and cultural synthesis, Radhakrishnan said the occasion was particularly significant as Kaivalyadhama itself has completed a century of dedicated service to Yoga, according to a press release issued by the Vice-President’s Secretariat.
Recalling the contribution of Swami Kuvalayananda, who founded Kaivalyadhama in 1924, the Vice-President said he pioneered the scientific study of Yoga at a time when it was largely viewed as a mystical practice. He emphasised that the legacies of the past must be preserved and carried forward for future generations.
“Yoga is not for one generation; it is for every generation to come,” he said.
Addressing young students, Radhakrishnan said India’s youth possess immense energy, talent and ambition, which can achieve their fullest potential when combined with discipline and awareness. Referring to Patanjali’s concept of chitta vritti nirodhah, he said the ability to calm and focus the mind is particularly relevant in an age of constant notifications and information overload.
The Vice-President said any endeavour undertaken with good intention and a sincere commitment to the well-being of society can leave a lasting legacy. Good legacies never die; they continue to inspire and benefit generations to come.
He said the century-long journey of Kaivalyadhama is a living testament to this enduring truth.
Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, former Union Minister and Chairman of Kaivalyadhama Global Suresh Prabhu, CEO of Kaivalyadhama Global Subodh Tiwari, Chief Patron Rakesh Seksaria, faculty members, students, alumni and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
