India and Sweden have discussed opportunities for deeper cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), digitalisation and emerging technologies under the Sweden-India Technology and AI Corridor (SITAC), with a focus on industrial AI, trusted data, computing infrastructure, skills and responsible AI.
The bilateral dialogue was organised by the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) with a Swedish delegation at Electronics Niketan in New Delhi.
Senior officials from MeitY, the IndiaAI Mission, the Embassy of Sweden in India and Business Sweden, along with representatives of leading Swedish and Indian technology companies, participated in the discussions.
Addressing the session, IndiaAI Mission CEO Saurabh Vijay said Sweden brings strong industrial, research and advanced manufacturing capabilities, while India offers scale, digital public infrastructure and a large pool of AI talent and testing environments.
The IndiaAI Mission presented an overview of India’s evolving AI ecosystem and digital roadmap, including initiatives focused on computing capacity, datasets and AI models, indigenous and domain-specific AI, application development, future skills, startup financing and Safe & Trusted AI.
The discussions also examined policy, infrastructure and governance issues influencing enterprise AI adoption in India, including data governance, localisation, responsible AI and market access.
The Swedish delegation, led by Business Sweden Market Manager Johnny Eriksson, outlined SITAC and Sweden’s priorities in AI and digitalisation. Representatives of Swedish companies including Autoliv, Consat, IKEA, Saab, Sandvik AI, Sandvik Intelligent Manufacturing, SKF and Volvo Group took part in the dialogue.
Indian technology companies, including Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Zenteiq, Avataar AI, Innefu, CoRover.ai, Gnani and Globals ITES, also participated.
The interaction explored potential areas of convergence between Swedish industrial capabilities and India’s AI priorities, with discussions on possible pilot projects, testbeds, co-development initiatives and commercial partnerships.
Swedish companies also gained insights into India’s enterprise AI capabilities, technology solutions and deployment-ready innovations through interactions with Indian technology firms.
Swedish Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission Agnes Julin said the two countries’ shared objective was to facilitate business opportunities in AI and electronics through cooperation on trade, regulation and innovation, particularly by connecting startups and businesses.
MeitY said that the India-Sweden discussions under SITAC are expected to support a sustained bilateral engagement agenda in AI and digitalisation, including ecosystem partnerships, pilots and testbeds.
The dialogue underscored the shared interest of India and Sweden in using AI and emerging technologies to promote innovation, enterprise adoption and technology-led growth while developing trusted and responsible AI ecosystems.
