Viswesvaran said the bank’s strength lies in combining technology with the trust and extensive reach of India Post to take modern financial services to the last mile.
During the past year, IPPB also introduced three savings account variants.
The SHG Savings Account was designed for Self Help Groups and rural micro-entrepreneurs, while the Surakshit Savings Account provides ₹25,000 in cyber insurance against risks such as phishing, spoofing and SIM jacking, along with the benefits of a Premium Savings Account.
The Sampoorna Savings Account combines financial security and wellness benefits, including Aarogya wellness services and Surakshit cyber protection, along with the features of a Premium Savings Account.
IPPB was launched on September 1, 2018, under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, with 100 per cent equity owned by the Government of India.
The bank has been established with the objective of providing accessible, affordable and trusted banking services to citizens, particularly those who are unbanked and underbanked.
IPPB leverages the extensive India Post network, comprising around 1.65 lakh post offices, including approximately 1.40 lakh in rural areas, and around three lakh postal employees.
The bank uses digital technology and India Stack-enabled services to provide paperless, cashless and presence-less banking at customers’ doorsteps.

The bank said it will continue to focus on technology, interoperability and the India Post network to strengthen financial inclusion and support India’s transition towards a less-cash and digitally enabled economy.
