President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday said the loss of lives in a bus fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful and offered her deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
She also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident.
“The news of the deaths of people in a fire that broke out in a bus on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of those injured in this accident,” President Murmu said in a post on X.

Casualties have been confirmed after a sleeper bus caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida early Thursday.
The bus was headed to Bihar from Delhi when the incident took place near the 33-km milestone under the Jewar police station area.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and extended his condolences to the families of those who died in the fire. CM Adityanath also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The CM directed officials to ensure proper treatment for the injured and to provide all possible assistance to the families of the deceased after communicating with them, according to an official statement.
