Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Xavier Bettel will undertake a three-day official visit to India from September 7 to 9, during which he will hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and travel to Chennai for engagements at IIT Madras and the inauguration of a new SES campus.
Bettel will arrive in New Delhi in the early hours of Monday and meet EAM Jaishankar at Hyderabad House at noon.
On Tuesday, Bettel will travel to Chennai, where he is scheduled to visit the IIT Madras campus and tour the IIT Madras Research Park. He will later visit and inaugurate a new campus of SES, a Luxembourg-based satellite communications company. Bettel will depart India in the early hours of Wednesday.
The visit follows EAM Jaishankar’s official visit to Luxembourg in January, when the two sides discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen India-Luxembourg relations.
During that visit, Bettel highlighted the contribution of the Indian community to Luxembourg’s growth, particularly in the technical, digital and financial sectors. He also pointed to the scope for expanding cooperation in areas such as digital technology, finance and space.
