Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage, historical legacy, spiritual traditions, indigenous art and contemporary achievements are prominently represented in the PM Mementos e-Auction 2026, with a collection of 89 mementos showcasing the diverse identity of the state.
The Maharashtra-themed collection features a wide range of sculptures, paintings, artworks, commemorative pieces, religious artefacts, sports memorabilia and models, offering glimpses into the state’s history, traditions and modern achievements.
A major theme running through the collection is the enduring legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Several mementos depict the Maratha ruler in different artistic forms, including statues showing him on horseback, seated on a throne, alongside a lion and in ceremonial settings.
The collection also includes a silver statue, woodcut portrait, framed artwork and a scale model of the Meghadambari at Raigad Fort, highlighting the historical and architectural legacy associated with Shivaji Maharaj.
Bhakti traditions and Warli art
Maharashtra’s rich Bhakti tradition also finds significant representation in the collection. Among the mementos are depictions of Sant Tukaram with traditional musical instruments and artworks portraying Sant Dnyaneshwar in meditation.
The collection also showcases the state’s indigenous artistic traditions, particularly the distinctive Warli art form. Several works use traditional Warli motifs and geometric patterns to portray rural life, farming, celebrations and community traditions.
One of the artworks combines a portrait of tribal leader Birsa Munda with Warli motifs, while other pieces capture everyday life through the characteristic visual language of Warli painting. Warli paintings on cloth, including a hand-painted work on deep maroon fabric, further demonstrate the versatility of the traditional art form.
Sporting achievements find place
The catalogue also highlights Maharashtra’s sporting accomplishments through a selection of memorabilia.
These include a badminton racket signed by para-badminton player Sukant Kadam, as well as a signed carry bag and shot put belonging to Sachin Khilari, who represented India at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Contemporary infrastructure and historical personalities
The collection extends beyond traditional art and heritage to showcase Maharashtra’s contemporary infrastructure and institutional milestones.
Presentation models of the Vadhavan Port, Thane-Borivali Twin Tunnel Project and Navi Mumbai International Airport are among the mementos featured in the auction.
Mementos celebrating India’s social, political and intellectual heritage also include portraits and sculptures of prominent historical figures such as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Ahilyabai Holkar and Peshwa Bajirao I.
Together, the 89 mementos offer a cross-section of Maharashtra’s cultural identity, bringing historical personalities, spiritual traditions, folk art, religious heritage, sporting achievements and contemporary infrastructure into a single collection.
From handcrafted Warli compositions and devotional sculptures to institutional models and sports memorabilia, the collection reflects the varied ways in which Maharashtra’s heritage and achievements are represented.
