Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each person killed in the bus fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, while Rs 50,000 to those injured in the tragedy.
“Distressed to hear about the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy on a bus in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi,” said a post by PMO India on X.

Several casualties have been confirmed after a sleeper bus caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida early Thursday. The bus was headed to Bihar from Delhi when the incident took place near the 33-km milestone under the Jewar police station area.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured and to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families.
