Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, with the two leaders reviewing progress in bilateral cooperation and discussing the multifaceted India-South Africa Strategic Partnership.
During the meeting, PM Modi and Ramaphosa reviewed the progress achieved across diverse areas of cooperation and reaffirmed the close and longstanding ties between the two countries.
The leaders noted that India-South Africa relations are rooted in their shared historical struggles, strong cultural affinities, robust economic ties and deep people-to-people connections.
India, South Africa to strengthen coordination in multilateral forums
The two leaders also exchanged views on a range of global issues of mutual interest and agreed to maintain close coordination in multilateral forums.
Highlighting the successful translocation of cheetahs from South Africa to India, PM Modi invited South Africa to consider joining the International Big Cat Alliance.
President Ramaphosa thanked PM Modi for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their visit to New Delhi. He also appreciated the successful organisation of the 18th BRICS Summit.
