Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared an article by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighting how dialogue is replacing disputes and trust is strengthening Centre-state relations.

In his article, Sarma said the approach to cooperative federalism over the past decade had increasingly focused on dialogue, trust and development. He cited several recent agreements facilitated by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as examples of progress in resolving disputes that had remained pending for decades.
The article referred to a tripartite agreement between the Centre, Assam and Nagaland signed on June 11, as well as a pact involving Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi that revived the long-delayed Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project. It also cited the agreement between Rajasthan and Haryana to operationalise the 1994 Upper Yamuna Basin agreement, a settlement involving Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan over dues under the Narmada Award, and a Bihar-Jharkhand pact resolving a 25-year dispute over the Sone River.
Sarma also highlighted an agreement between Assam and Nagaland on sharing hydrocarbon revenue from a disputed area along their border, describing it as an effort to unlock development while broader boundary issues are addressed.
The article cited the Bodo Peace Accord, Karbi Anglong settlement, Assam-Meghalaya boundary agreement and Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border resolution as other examples of peace and reconciliation efforts in the Northeast.
