Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” on September 19, 2026, at around 10 AM at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
The two-day international conference is being organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on September 19 and 20 to deliberate on critical environmental and climate-related issues.
The conference will witness the participation of Judges of the Supreme Court of India and High Courts, District Court Judges, Secretaries of various Ministries, senior government officials, representatives of State Judicial Academies and State Legal Services Authorities.
The international conference will additionally bring together eminent Judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries, providing a platform for interaction and exchange of experiences across jurisdictions.
Representatives of State Expert Appraisal Committees (SEACs), State Environment Impact Assessment Authorities (SEIAAs), State Wetland Authorities and other stakeholders will also participate in the deliberations.
Focus on environmental governance and climate challenges
The conference will facilitate the exchange of judicial approaches, scientific knowledge, environmental governance practices and institutional experiences across jurisdictions.
Discussions will focus on critical environmental and climate challenges, including gaps in policy formulation, implementation and enforcement.
The conference will also explore ways to strengthen environmental governance and promote greater institutional cooperation among different stakeholders.
By bringing together judicial representatives, environmental experts, government institutions and other stakeholders from India and abroad, the conference will provide an opportunity to share approaches and experiences on emerging environmental and climate-related challenges.
