BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday announced a month-long nationwide campaign, ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, from September 17 to October 17 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public service.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Nabin said October 7, 2026, will mark 25 years since Prime Minister Modi began his public service journey as Chief Minister of Gujarat.
“On October 7, 2026, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will complete 25 years of public service, a journey that began when he assumed office as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001,” Nabin said.
He said the campaign would seek to highlight the Prime Minister’s journey from an ordinary party worker to the country’s ‘Pradhan Sevak’ and showcase initiatives undertaken during his tenure.
Nabin said that when Modi took over as Prime Minister, India was facing what he described as policy paralysis and was being referred to as one of the “Fragile Five” economies. He said India had since emerged as the world’s fastest-growing major economy.
He also highlighted India’s growing startup ecosystem, saying the country had become the world’s third-largest startup nation and that young people were increasingly emerging as job creators.
Referring to initiatives including Khelo India and Fit India, Nabin said India’s youth were making their presence felt across different fields.
On women-led development, the BJP president highlighted initiatives including Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Lakhpati Didi and the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, saying these had contributed to greater participation and empowerment of women.
Nabin also highlighted development in border areas, saying villages located along the country’s borders were increasingly being described as “first villages” rather than “last villages”.
He said Modi’s development journey began in Gujarat, where initiatives such as the Narmada project and Vibrant Gujarat helped position the state as an engine of growth and investment.
Nabin also referred to the government’s efforts against Naxalism and said development under Modi had included both economic progress and the preservation of India’s cultural heritage.
Citing the Ram Mandir and Kashi Vishwanath, he said the government had worked to preserve and develop the country’s cultural and religious heritage.
The BJP president said the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ would begin on September 17, which the party observes as ‘Seva Diwas’ to mark Prime Minister Modi’s birthday, and conclude on October 17.
The campaign will begin with a blood donation camp, while an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ programme will also be organised on September 17. A cleanliness drive will be held on October 2, Nabin said.
The BJP will organise photo and digital exhibitions showcasing Modi’s 25-year public service journey, including his governance record, development initiatives and welfare schemes.
Seminars and intellectual forums focusing on good governance, development and Antyodaya will also be held, along with interactive programmes involving youth and other sections of society.
Special camps will be organised to create awareness about welfare schemes of the Central and state governments and the benefits available under them.
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde has been appointed National Convener of the campaign. A seven-member team will be formed in each state, comprising a minister, an organisational general secretary and five senior leaders, to coordinate the programmes.
Nabin said the BJP would use the campaign to take the message of public service and dedication to people across the country.
Prime Minister Modi took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001. He served as Gujarat Chief Minister for nearly 13 years before becoming Prime Minister in 2014. (ANI)
