The Ministry of Home Affairs has declared the Shahzad Bhatti Network a terrorist organisation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah said on Wednesday.
In a post on X, Amit Shah said the action was taken in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of zero tolerance against terrorism.
The Home Minister said the network was involved in the smuggling of arms, explosives and narcotics across borders and was also engaged in inciting youths and petty criminals towards terrorism.
He further alleged that the syndicate targeted India’s democratic structure and the fabric of communal harmony, besides publishing hateful digital content.
Amit Shah said the declaration of the Shahzad Bhatti Network as a terrorist organisation reflects the government’s continued approach of taking firm action against terrorism.
