Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari on Friday paid tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary, recalling his contributions to national service and highlighting his vision of serving the last person in society and advancing the welfare of the poor.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah posted on X:
“On the birth anniversary of revered Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji, the great nation-builder and proponent of ‘Antyodaya’ and Integral Humanism, I pay my humble tributes to him.”
HM Shah said Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya regarded politics as an instrument of national service.
“Deendayal Ji regarded politics not as a means of attaining power, but as an instrument of national service and the upliftment of the last person in society. Through ‘Rashtradharma’ and ‘Panchjanya’, he gave voice to national thought, while through several movements, he forcefully raised issues concerning national unity,” said HM Shah.
“Pandit Ji’s thoughts will always continue to guide us like the Pole Star on the path of national service and public welfare,” he added.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to X and posted:
“On the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji, co-founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and an ideological guide and moral inspiration for the Bharatiya Janata Party, I pay my respectful tributes to him”.
Rajnath Singh said Deendayal Upadhyaya showed the way to ensure development, opportunities and dignity reach the person standing at the last rung of society.
“Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji’s life is an inspiring example of national service, simplicity, integrity and commitment to principles. Through ‘Antyodaya’, he showed the way to ensure development, opportunities and dignity reach the person standing at the last rung of society, while through ‘Integral Humanism’, he presented a broad vision of inclusive, balanced and harmonious development,” he said.
“His thoughts, life and ideals will always inspire us to serve the nation and continue to guide generations to come. On his birth anniversary, let us imbibe his thoughts and ideals and resolve to further strengthen our commitment to Antyodaya, national interest and service to society,” said Rajnath Singh in his X post.

Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya translated the philosophy of Integral Humanism and the ideology of Antyodaya into practice, with the objective of ensuring the welfare of the poor.
“On the birth anniversary of revered Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji, the proponent of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya, a staunch nationalist and a source of inspiration for us, I pay my humble tributes to him. The thoughts and principles of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji played a vital role in providing the country with an alternative ideology. His ideology played an important role in the reconstruction of the nation. With the objective of ensuring the welfare of the poor, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Ji brought the philosophy of Integral Humanism and the ideology of Antyodaya into practice. Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (September 25, 1916 – February 11, 1968) was a politician, philosopher, economist, sociologist, historian, and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He propounded the concept of ‘Antyodaya ’, which means the “rise of the last person”. He stressed on ‘Antyodaya’ to rid the nation of extreme poverty, which also formed a part of his core philosophy of “Integral Humanism”.
A revered icon of Integral Humanism, Deendayal Upadhyaya was an ideologue and a guiding force for an alternative model of governance and politics. He envisioned for India a decentralized polity and self-reliant economy with the village as the base.
