Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Sunday said Uttar Pradesh’s entrepreneurs will gain greater access to international markets as India expands its network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), with the state targeting an increase in annual exports from around ₹2 lakh crore to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030.
Addressing the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Goyal said expanding exports, attracting investments and strengthening global market access would play an important role in Uttar Pradesh’s ambition to become a $1 trillion economy.
The Minister said new investments are expected to flow into India from across the world and noted that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a preferred investment destination due to its favourable industrial policies and proactive industrial schemes.
He said major corporations and global investors are entering the state across sectors, creating new employment opportunities and contributing to its industrial growth.
Goyal also highlighted the role of modern technology, international enterprises and the evolving craftsmanship and technical skills of Uttar Pradesh’s youth in driving the state’s economic development.
The Minister said international events such as the UP International Trade Show provide businesses with direct access to global markets and create opportunities for the state’s diverse products, cuisines and services to reach international consumers.
International Participation at UP Trade Show
Goyal highlighted the participation of international stakeholders at the trade show, including six partner countries, hundreds of delegates and exhibitors, as well as buyer-seller meetings aimed at creating business opportunities.
He said the participation of international buyers, investors and other stakeholders would help Uttar Pradesh’s businesses establish stronger connections with overseas markets.
The Minister also pointed to the development of expressways, modern airports and industrial parks across Uttar Pradesh, which are strengthening the state’s connectivity and industrial infrastructure.
He highlighted the state’s growing presence in sectors such as defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology domains.
Goyal also referred to the expansion of a large robotics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida as an example of the state’s growing industrial and technological capabilities.
Focus on Exports, Investment and Tourism
Goyal said the next phase of Uttar Pradesh’s development would depend on expanding exports, attracting international investments, strengthening tourism and building global recognition for brands originating from the state.
He said Uttar Pradesh currently has an annual export volume of around ₹2 lakh crore and has set a target of increasing it to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030.
The Minister said the combination of expanding market access through FTAs, greater investment, tourism and international recognition for Uttar Pradesh’s products and brands would create new opportunities for entrepreneurs across the state.
He called for active participation from the state’s trade and industrial community to take forward this development journey.
Goyal also stressed the importance of close coordination between the Central and state governments, along with the participation of citizens, youth and stakeholders from the trade and industrial sectors, to sustain Uttar Pradesh’s economic and export growth.
The Minister said the state is strengthening its foundations for greater global trade and investment as it progresses towards its broader economic development objectives.
