Vice President Radhakrishnan releases commemorative postage stamp marking Dinamalar’s 75th anniversary

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday released a commemorative postage stamp to mark the 75th anniversary of Tamil daily Dinamalar, praising the newspaper for earning the trust of readers by upholding the values of truth, patriotism and public service.

Speaking at the anniversary function in Chennai, V-P Radhakrishnan said Dinamalar’s seven-and-a-half-decade journey reflected its commitment to fearless journalism and its enduring bond with readers.

Recalling that the newspaper was founded in 1951 by T. V. Ramasubbaiyer, the Vice-President said an idea that began with one individual had grown into a major media organisation through the dedication and collective efforts of successive generations.

He said a newspaper could retain public trust only by standing firm against pressure and remaining committed to higher values, including patriotism and public service.

The Vice-President also highlighted the importance of nurturing the next generation and appreciated Dinamalar’s educational initiative ‘Pattam’, which provides school students with content on general awareness, language skills and scientific innovations.

Expressing confidence in the newspaper’s future, V-P Radhakrishnan wished Dinamalar continued success and said it should continue serving the nation and society while remaining a touchstone of truth for many more decades.

The event was attended by Chennai Regional Director of the Department of Posts Major Manoj, Dinamalar Group Editor Dr. R. Ramasubbu, publishers L. Aadhimoolam, Dr. L. Ramasubbu and Jayashree, R. R. Gopalji, and other distinguished guests.
