Intermittent rainfall continued in parts of Bihar on Monday, while several other districts experienced hot and humid conditions. The Meteorological Department issued a weather alert for 17 districts, forecasting light rain, lightning and strong winds.
The districts under the warning are East Champaran, West Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan, Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Kaimur.
According to the department, winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph may occur in these districts, along with lightning and light rainfall. Residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions.
The department has forecast variable weather across the state over the next 72 hours. On September 15, a Yellow Alert has been issued for around half of Bihar, with rainfall particularly likely in the Seemanchal region. Light rain may also occur at isolated places in North Bihar and southeastern parts of the state.
On September 16, a rainfall warning has been issued for almost the entire state. Relatively normal weather is expected only in Buxar, Bhojpur, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Kaimur, while strong winds, lightning and light rain are possible in other districts.
Bihar continues to record below-normal rainfall, with meteorologists attributing the deficit to a low-pressure area that developed over Central India.
According to weather experts, rainfall activity has shifted towards Central India, southeastern Rajasthan and North Gujarat, while the monsoon trough is also passing through Central India. These conditions have contributed to relatively weak monsoon activity over Bihar, resulting in isolated light showers in several areas.
The Meteorological Department said weather conditions remained generally normal across several districts. The highest maximum temperature of 37.9 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bhabhua, Kaimur, while the lowest minimum temperature of 24.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Forbesganj, Araria, on Sunday.
In Patna, residents continued to experience hot and humid conditions. The weather in the state capital is expected to remain generally normal, with bright sunshine likely on Monday.
No specific rainfall alert has been issued for Patna. However, officials said a sudden change in weather could bring light rain accompanied by strong winds in some areas.
Residents, particularly those in districts under the weather alert, have been advised to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and avoid exposed areas during lightning activity.
