Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh Bids Farewell to IAF After 42 Years of Service

Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh on Saturday bid farewell to the Indian Air Force (IAF) after completing 42 years of distinguished military service, marking the end of his tenure as Chief of the Air Staff.

Earlier in the day, Air Chief Marshal Singh laid a wreath at the National War Memorial, paying tribute to the personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

He was subsequently accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Parade Ground of the Air Force Station ahead of the formal handover of command to Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, who assumed charge as the new Chief of the Air Staff on Saturday.

An accomplished fighter pilot and Experimental Test Pilot, Air Chief Marshal Singh made significant contributions to strengthening the operational capabilities, combat preparedness and modernisation of the Indian Air Force.

According to an IAF statement, his tenure was marked by a focus on operational readiness and decisive leadership, particularly during Operation Sindoor, when the Air Force demonstrated its combat capabilities, operational precision and preparedness.

The IAF also highlighted his close association with personnel across the organisation, noting his emphasis on professionalism, accountability, initiative and pride in service.

His interactions with air warriors, young officers, airmen and cadets reflected his focus on developing future leadership and strengthening the human resource capabilities of the force.

During his tenure, Air Chief Marshal Singh also emphasised technological modernisation, indigenisation, innovation and the integration of emerging technologies to build a future-ready Air Force.

The IAF acknowledged his contribution towards strengthening the organisation’s resolve to remain a capable, credible and combat-ready force and wished him and his wife, Sarita Singh, the very best for the years ahead.

Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also extended their wishes to the outgoing Air Chief, commending his distinguished service, exemplary leadership and contributions to the Indian Air Force and the nation.

The Defence Minister also acknowledged his role in the successful execution of Operation Sindoor.
