Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held separate discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal in New Delhi on key issues concerning the state, including drought relief, water security, infrastructure projects, port-led industrialisation and expanding export opportunities for farmers.

Naidu also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and apprised him of the drought situation in Andhra Pradesh, seeking the Centre’s support to address rainfall deficiency and its impact on the agricultural sector.
He also discussed with HM Shah the proposal to take forward the Godavari–Krishna–Penna–Palar–Cauvery river-linking project, which, according to Naidu, could help address the water requirements of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and strengthen water security in southern India.
Naidu took to X and posted:
“Had the honour of calling on Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji and apprising him of the drought situation prevailing in Andhra Pradesh due to the impact of El Niño, while seeking the Government of India’s support in addressing the challenges arising from the deficient rainfall and its impact on the agricultural sector.
We also discussed the proposal to take forward the Godavari–Krishna–Penna–Palar–Cauvery river-linking project, which has the potential to provide a sustainable solution to the water requirements of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, while strengthening water security across southern India. @AmitShah”

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also called upon Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal to discuss key priority projects for the state.
Naidu sought Central support for critical infrastructure projects, including the 189-km Amaravati Outer Ring Road, Polavaram iconic bridge and Beach Road project. He also requested the transfer of 20,378 acres of DPIIT salt lands to fast-track port-led industrialisation and sought support for expanding export avenues for chilli, tobacco and aquaculture farmers.
