Bengal Govt Announces Rs 1.8 Lakh Aid for Fully Damaged Homes in Flood-Hit Malda

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Thursday that his government will provide financial assistance of Rs 1.8 lakh for fully damaged homes and Rs 90,000 for partially affected houses in the flood-hit Malda district.

Speaking at a flood-relief distribution programme at Raghunathpur, Adhikari also stated that the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has been tasked with preparing a detailed project report for a permanent flood solution in Malda. He said that proposals have been sent to the Centre seeking Rs 3,300-crore projects for river erosion control in Malda and Murshidabad, out of which projects worth Rs 500 crore have already been cleared.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister asserted that previous governments did not resolve the flood problem in areas like Bhutni, parts of Ratua, and villages in English Bazar in Malda, but his administration will work out a permanent solution to the flood issue in the district.
