CDS Hails IAF’s Operational Excellence, Decisive Air Power on 94th Air Force Day

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General NS Raja Subramani on Thursday extended greetings to all personnel of the Indian Air Force (IAF), veterans, civilians and their families on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force, lauding the force’s operational excellence, professionalism and ability to employ air power decisively in an increasingly contested and technology-driven battlespace.

Paying tribute to the IAF’s rich legacy of valour and selfless service, the CDS said the force had consistently demonstrated its ability to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and security while also serving as a dependable first responder during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in India and abroad.

General NS Raja Subramani, who is also Secretary, Department of Military Affairs (DMA), said the theme of this year’s Air Force Day — “Indian Airforce: Infallible, Impervious and Precise” — captured the true essence and ethos of the IAF.

He noted that from the skies of conflict to those of humanitarian assistance, the IAF had demonstrated that air power was not merely about air combat, but also about national power, resilience and service.

The CDS said the IAF’s performance in various operations was a testament to India’s strategic prowess and its unwavering commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty and security. He also commended the force for its dependable role as a first responder during HADR operations, both within the country and overseas, earning the trust and gratitude of people.

Focus on Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation

General Subramani acknowledged the IAF’s steady progress towards Jointness, Aatmanirbharta and Innovation (JAI), and appreciated the induction of indigenous platforms, advanced weapon systems and emerging technologies into the force.

He also highlighted the continuous evolution of operational concepts and doctrines to meet the demands of an increasingly technology-driven battlespace.

The CDS appreciated the IAF’s participation in bilateral and multinational exercises, including the ongoing Exercise Tarang Shakti, saying such engagements have helped strengthen interoperability, operational preparedness and strategic partnerships.

CDS Calls on Air Warriors to Remain Steadfast

In his message to the air warriors, the CDS exhorted them to remain steadfast in their commitment, unwavering in the face of adversity and purposeful in every mission.

Air Force Day is observed on October 8 to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Air Force and honour the sacrifices and service of its air warriors.
