A total of 490 personnel from various States and Union Territories, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) have been awarded the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak for 2026, the Ministry of Home Affairs said on Saturday.

The award recognises excellence in police operations, outstanding investigative work, exceptional performance, intelligence services and contributions to forensic science. It aims to promote high professional standards and boost the morale of police and security personnel.

Instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs through a notification dated February 1, 2024, the medal is conferred on personnel serving in police forces, security organisations, intelligence wings, CAPFs, CPOs, the National Security Guard, Assam Rifles and forensic science establishments at the central and state levels.

The award was initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Ministry said the medal is announced every year on October 31, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.

The complete list of awardees is available on the Ministry of Home Affairs’ official website, www.mha.gov.in.
