The Chhattisgarh cabinet on Sunday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said. Addressing a press conference after chairing the cabinet meeting at his official residence in Civil Lines, Sai said India’s role and stature on the global stage had expanded significantly under PM Modi’s leadership.
“It is a historic milestone in an extraordinary journey guided by the principles of nation first, public service, good governance, welfare of the poor and upliftment of the last person,” he said, while also expressing gratitude to the Centre for extending support to Chhattisgarh through cooperative federalism, providing additional resources and helping deliver essential facilities such as housing, tap water, sanitation, ration, healthcare and clean cooking fuel to the last person.
High global achievements were noted by Sai, who stated, “Under PM Modi’s leadership, India’s growing diplomatic influence was reflected in its G20 presidency, effective role in BRICS, initiative to secure permanent membership for the African Union in the G20 and efforts to strengthen the voice of the Global South. The fact that 36 countries have conferred their highest civilian honours on PM Modi also underscores his global standing,” and added that initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, International Yoga Day and the International Year of Millets had benefited states like Chhattisgarh as well.
Recalling PM Modi’s tenure as Gujarat chief minister, Sai said several governance initiatives involving technology, public engagement and result-oriented administration were introduced in the western state and subsequently adopted across the country. He noted, “Chhattisgarh, which was formed in 2000, also learnt from successful experiences of the Gujarat model during its initial years of development and made rapid progress. Welfare of the poor has remained central to PM Modi’s policies, with the impact visible in Chhattisgarh.”
Pointing out regional developmental metrics, Sai shared that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 20.65 lakh houses in rural areas and 2.25 lakh houses in urban areas have been completed in the state, with 11.78 lakh of those constructed in the last three years to give Chhattisgarh first rank in the country in the pace of construction. Furthermore, the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has directly benefited 26.57 lakh farmers in the state, and through the spirit of cooperative federalism where the Centre increased states’ share in central taxes from 32 per cent to 42 per cent, Chhattisgarh received Rs 3,46,806 crore as its share of central taxes over the past 12 years, marking 7.4 times the Rs 47,100 crore received during the 2004-2014 decade. To contribute to PM Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, the Chhattisgarh government has also prepared a roadmap titled ‘Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047’.
Marking a major milestone in security, Sai highlighted that one of the most significant achievements was the decisive end to the decades-old Naxal menace on March 31, 2026 through coordinated efforts by the Centre and state governments and the courage of security personnel, with Chhattisgarh receiving Rs 2,080 crore in special central assistance for eliminating Naxalism. He also cited India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, noting that surgical strikes, the Balakot airstrike and Operation Sindoor have demonstrated the country’s firm national resolve.
In addition to these reviews, the cabinet granted permission to recruit former Agniveers against a total of 36 vacancies for the post of constable in the Home Department, building upon the state government’s existing provision for 10 per cent category-wise reservation for former Agniveers in these posts. The cabinet also approved a proposal to amend the Chhattisgarh Government Business (Allocation) Rules to change the name of the ‘Tribal Development Department’ to the ‘Tribal Affairs Department’.
