Delhi-NCR Sees Cooler October Weather After Rain; Temperatures Likely to Remain Mild

Rainfall across Delhi and neighbouring parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) brought a sharp drop in temperatures on Thursday, with relatively cool conditions expected to continue on Friday.

Delhi, Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad are forecast to record maximum temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius, while Faridabad is likely to remain warmer, with the mercury expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Delhi, Noida and Gurugram is forecast at 20 degrees Celsius, while Ghaziabad is likely to record 19 degrees Celsius. Faridabad is expected to see a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius.

The cooler conditions follow rainfall across the national capital on Thursday, when the maximum temperature at the Safdarjung weather station settled at 28.3 degrees Celsius, nearly 5 degrees below normal and 6 degrees lower than Wednesday’s reading.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded 15.9 mm of rainfall at Safdarjung between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lodhi Road received 20 mm, while the Ridge station recorded 25.2 mm. Palam and Ayanagar received 11.2 mm and 7.2 mm, respectively, during the same period.

The rainfall triggered waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of Delhi. An official said waterlogging was reported at multiple locations, including the Zakhira and Ashram underpasses, the underpass connecting Inderlok and Azad Market, the Lajpat Nagar flyover and Munirka.

Wind speeds on Friday are forecast at around 6 kmph in Delhi and Noida, 10 kmph in Gurugram and 5 kmph in Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
