e-Sanjeevani Records Nearly 50 Crore Teleconsultations, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted the role of digital technology in expanding healthcare access, noting that the national telemedicine platform e-Sanjeevani has facilitated nearly 50 crore teleconsultations across the country.

Addressing the latest episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister said the platform demonstrated how technology could simplify everyday life and connect people in remote regions with medical expertise.

PM Modi said the milestone reflected the capabilities of digital healthcare, the commitment of doctors and the trust of citizens in technology-enabled medical services. He added that e-Sanjeevani had extended its reach to some of the country’s most geographically isolated areas.

Sharing examples of patients who received medical assistance through the platform, the Prime Minister spoke about a child from the Jarawa tribal community on Baratang Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. When the child developed a high fever and breathing difficulties, local health workers consulted a specialist through e-Sanjeevani. The child was diagnosed with pneumonia and improved following medical intervention, PM Modi said.

He also cited the case of 60-year-old Kunhi Koya in Kalpeni, Lakshadweep, who received assistance after falling ill. A doctor based in Kavaratti guided the local medical team through the platform.

In Ladakh’s Zanskar region, Kunjang Dolma received specialist assistance after experiencing pregnancy-related complications. Another case involved 12-year-old Mushem in Nagaland’s Peren district, who received a diagnosis and medication for an ear infection accompanied by fever.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the role of nearly 1.90 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs operating across the country. He said these centres were increasingly serving as local wellness hubs, encouraging regular health check-ups and strengthening preventive healthcare at the village level.

e-Sanjeevani supports this effort by enabling remote consultations between healthcare professionals and between doctors and patients at home. The platform operates through two modes: doctor-to-doctor consultations at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and direct doctor-to-patient consultations.

Developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, e-Sanjeevani is a national telemedicine service that enables people to access medical advice without always having to travel to larger healthcare facilities.
