Indian Naval Ship Sahyadri departed Vladivostok on October 20 following the conclusion of INDRA 2026, a bilateral exercise between the Indian Navy and the Russian Federation Navy.
The exercise comprised harbour and sea phases aimed at strengthening professional cooperation, operational coordination and interoperability between the two navies.
The harbour phase included interactions between senior leaders, cross-deck visits, subject matter expert exchanges and operational synchronisation activities. Personnel also participated in sports and cultural exchanges, strengthening camaraderie alongside professional engagement.
During the sea phase, participating units conducted coordinated manoeuvres, integrated communications, helicopter operations and medical evacuation drills. These activities enabled them to practise joint procedures and improve coordination at sea.
The exercise reaffirmed the longstanding defence and maritime partnership between India and Russia, the Navy said. It also reflected the two navies’ shared commitment to maritime security and a secure, stable and peaceful maritime environment.
