PM Modi Describes 12-Year Journey of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as a ‘Pilgrimage’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reflected on the 12-year journey of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, describing it as an opportunity to recognise the contributions of ordinary citizens and calling the experience no less than a pilgrimage.

Addressing the 139th episode of the programme, the Prime Minister thanked listeners for their continued support and affection, saying they had been an integral part of the journey and a source of inspiration.

Recalling the beginning of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on October 3, 2014, coinciding with Vijayadashami, PM Modi said the programme had provided a platform to highlight the hard work, courage, dedication and spirit of service demonstrated by people across the country.

Drawing a parallel with India’s centuries-old tradition of pilgrimages, he said the programme had enabled him to understand the efforts of citizens working for society and the nation. He described people devoted to public service as sources of inspiration in themselves.

The Prime Minister noted that over the years, ‘Mann Ki Baat’ had brought attention to individuals and communities whose contributions often remain unnoticed. Through the programme, their stories of commitment and service have been shared with audiences across the country.

PM Modi also spoke about the programme’s role in connecting with families across India, saying listeners had conveyed that they felt a personal connection with him while hearing the broadcasts. He described the warmth and affection received from audiences as invaluable.

First broadcast in 2014, ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is aired through All India Radio, also known as Akashvani, and Doordarshan networks. Over the years, the programme has featured stories of citizens and community initiatives from different parts of the country, bringing their work and experiences to a wider audience.
