Navratri, meaning ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, is a major Hindu festival dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine forms, collectively known as Navdurga. The festival is observed across the country with prayers, rituals and devotional offerings at temples and homes.

Maa Skandamata is revered as a symbol of motherhood, compassion and spiritual guidance. She is traditionally depicted seated on a lion, with her son Kartikeya on her lap and lotus flowers in her hands.

On the fifth day of Navratri, devotees offer prayers and seek the goddess’s blessings for protection, prosperity and well-being.
