India’s wind energy sector is set for a major industry showcase as Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi will inaugurate the 8th edition of Windergy India 2026 at the Chennai Trade Centre on October 8, with the event focusing on scaling manufacturing, technology and investment in the sector.
The inauguration will feature global MoU announcements, the launch of key sectoral reports and recognition of states demonstrating leadership in wind energy, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said.
Record capacity addition
India added a record 6.05 GW of wind power capacity in financial year 2025-26, taking its cumulative installed capacity to 58.52 GW by August 2026. Another 28 GW is under implementation, supporting the country’s target of achieving 100 GW of wind power capacity by 2030, the Ministry said.
Global industry participation
Scheduled from October 7 to 9, Windergy India 2026 will feature a three-day trade fair, two-day conference, technical sessions, round tables, live demonstrations, B2B and B2G meetings, and an Academia Connect programme.
The event is expected to bring together around 400 global exhibitors from more than 20 countries and 500 delegates, with dedicated country pavilions from Denmark, Germany and Spain.
Focus on technology and manufacturing
The event will showcase domestic value addition, next-generation turbine platforms, heavy-duty gearboxes, AI-driven operations and maintenance, and offshore wind capabilities.
The conference will feature high-level deliberations on policy frameworks, manufacturing competitiveness, repowering strategies and offshore wind development.
Centre, states and industry to participate
The inauguration will also be attended by Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Yesso Naik and Tamil Nadu Minister for Energy Resources and Law C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar.
Senior officials from the Centre and state governments, representatives of wind energy associations and industry leaders will also participate in the event.
Windergy India 2026 is being organised by the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) and PDA Ventures Pvt. Ltd., with the support of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Ministry of Power.
