Three Saudi nationals were killed and several others injured in two attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 8, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said.
The attacks targeted airport facilities and a Saudia Airlines aircraft, causing material damage. Saudia stated that no passengers were aboard the aircraft but said Captain Hamoud Ali Alkalthami, a member of its staff, was killed.
The Saudi-led coalition said it had destroyed three rocket launch platforms used by the Houthis and warned that attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure would be met with a firm response. Meanwhile, Houthi-run Al Masirah TV reported air strikes on sites in Sana’a and Saada, including telecommunications facilities.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in the UAE has urged American citizens to exercise heightened vigilance amid the regional security situation in the region, warning of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions. The hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly, it added.
