Tripura Police flags off 3,000-km motorcycle rally to Gujarat to spread awareness against drug abuse

Tripura Police on Thursday flagged off a 3,000-kilometre motorcycle rally from Agartala to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat to raise awareness about drug abuse and promote the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) ahead of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).

The rally was flagged off from the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium at AD Nagar Police Lines in Agartala in the presence of Acting Director General of Police G K Rao and other senior police officials.

Organised under the theme “Fight Against Drugs”, the rally will pass through several states before concluding at Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, Gujarat, home to the Statue of Unity.

The expedition brings together personnel from state police forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), central police organisations and other security agencies, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in combating drug abuse and promoting national unity.

Speaking on the occasion, Tripura DGP (In-Charge) G K Rao said the initiative was aimed at educating people, particularly the youth, about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraging greater community participation in efforts to prevent drug addiction.

“The rally aims to generate widespread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly among young people, and encourage communities to actively participate in the fight against drug addiction,” Rao said.

The initiative seeks to combine the message of national integration with a nationwide awareness campaign against narcotics, reinforcing the commitment to building a healthier and drug-free society.

The rally’s conclusion at Ekta Nagar, ahead of National Unity Day, will further highlight the message of unity and collective responsibility, bringing together security personnel and participants from different parts of the country in the campaign against drug abuse.
