The spirit of Diwali came alive in Colombo through an evening of Indian classical dance.
The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the High Commission of India presented DEEPOTSAVAM, featuring students of Natya Kala Mandir under the guidance of well-known Bharatanatyam dancer Guru ‘Kalasuri’ Smt. Vasugy Jegatheeswaran.
Through graceful movements, intricate footwork and vibrant expressions, the young dancers celebrated the festival of lights while showcasing India’s rich classical dance traditions.
The programme also highlighted the enduring cultural connections between India and Sri Lanka, with dance serving as a bridge between the two nations.
