Diwali celebrations have brought colour and light to markets, residential neighbourhoods and community spaces across Dubai.
Meena Bazaar and shopping malls have seen a festive rush, with shops displaying decorations, traditional clothes, diyas, sweets and gifts. Families have been visiting the markets to shop, while friends and community members gather to mark the festival.
For many Indians living in Dubai, the familiar sights and sounds of Diwali evoke memories of celebrations back home.
The festive atmosphere is also visible in residential areas, where decorative lights illuminate balconies and buildings. Community spaces and malls are hosting music and dance performances, talent shows and other activities. Bollywood music has added to the celebrations.
Thousands of miles from India, Dubai’s Diwali festivities bring together residents from different communities, while keeping traditions and the spirit of the festival alive.
