TRAI launches Network Anubhav platform to map network performance, offer online DND services

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday launched Network Anubhav, a geospatial and analytical platform that allows consumers to view location-specific network test results and access Do Not Disturb (DND) services through a web interface.

The dashboard brings together consumer-generated data from TRAI’s MySpeed and MyCall apps and findings from its independent drive tests, providing information to users, telecom service providers and the regulator.

Consumers can view cellular and fixed broadband test results by service provider and technology, including download and upload speeds. Interactive maps allow users to examine the location and distribution of observations, supported by filters, tables and downloadable reports.

The platform displays speed indicators based on tests conducted by users in a given area. These include median speeds and values indicating the speeds recorded at or above a specified level in 80 per cent of mobile broadband tests and 90 per cent of fixed broadband tests.

TRAI cautioned that user-generated results do not constitute a comprehensive assessment of network quality under a standard methodology. However, they offer information about other consumers’ experiences at different locations, alongside the results of independent drive tests.

Through a secure interface, telecom service providers can examine consumer test data on call quality, coverage and internet performance, including location, date, time and technical parameters. The information can help identify areas requiring further analysis and network improvements.

TRAI said it could use the aggregated findings to monitor consumer experience and support improvements in network performance.

The portal also provides web access to DND facilities, allowing consumers to register preferences for commercial communications, submit complaints about unsolicited communications and track their status. Users can also view consolidated and service-provider-wise complaint information.

TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said the platform would improve transparency, help consumers analyse location- and provider-specific test results, and enable operators to identify areas for network optimisation.

The regulator also highlighted its MySpeed software development kit, which allows eligible third-party apps to integrate connectivity measurement capabilities and contribute more real-world observations to the platform.

TRAI encouraged consumers to participate regularly through the MySpeed and MyCall apps, saying wider participation would improve the platform’s coverage and usefulness.

The platform is available at anubhav.trai.gov.in.
