Drone footage shows poor visibility as smog dulls Delhi

Drone footage revealed poor visibility as smog engulfed the capital on Tuesday (November 07) with the Air Quality Index hovering over 400 in several areas.

Visuals showed smog blighting historical landmarks, including, Jama Masjid Mosque and other areas.

New Delhi ranks among the world’s top polluted cities every year ahead of the onset of winter, when calm winds and low temperatures trap pollutants from sources including vehicles, industries, construction dust, and crop residue burning in nearby fields.

An AQI of 0-50 is considered good while anything between 400-500 affects healthy people and is a danger to those with existing diseases.

This year, attention on the worsening air quality has cast a shadow over the cricket World Cup hosted by India, with financial capital Mumbai also suffering from a spike in the pollution levels.
