Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday launched a credit assistance programme for Jan Aushadhi Kendras. The initiative is set to be implemented through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI).

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the remarkable growth of Jan Aushadhi Kendras over the past decade: from 80 units in 2014 to around 11,000 operational centers today. These centers serve as lifelines for millions by providing accessible and affordable medication. An estimated 10 to 12 lakh individuals benefit from their services daily.

Dr. Mandaviya outlined various measures aimed at streamlining procurement processes, diversifying product offerings, ensuring seamless supply chains, and maintaining stringent quality standards. He also lauded the financial support provided to individual operators, particularly those situated in remote and challenging terrains.
