G20: PM Modi puts forth ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ as a guiding principle for global welfare

As world leaders prepare to gather for the annual G20 summit in New Delhi on September 9-10, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put forth a visionary perspective for the world’s future. In an interview with PTI, he outlined his belief that his ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ model could serve as a guiding principle for global welfare, advocating a shift from a ‘GDP-centric approach’ to a ‘human-centric one.’ This proposal comes a week before India plays host to top leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Japan’s PM Fumio Kishida, and the UK’s PM Rishi Sunak.

PM Modi’s vision for India by 2047 is nothing short of ambitious. He expressed confidence that India would emerge as one of the developed nations by then. Among the key highlights of his vision:

1. Inclusive and Innovative Economy: Modi envisions an even more inclusive and innovative economy that ensures prosperity for all its citizens.

2. Battle Against Poverty: The Prime Minister is determined that India’s poor will comprehensively win the battle against poverty, setting an inspiring goal for the nation.

3. World-Class Health, Education, and Social Sector Outcomes: He aspires to see India’s health, education, and social sector outcomes ranked among the best globally.

4. Eradication of Corruption, Casteism, and Communalism: Modi is resolute that by 2047, these divisive factors will have no place in India’s national life.

5. Quality of Life at Par with the Best: He believes that the quality of life for Indians will be on par with the best countries in the world.

6. Balancing Nature and Culture: Importantly, the Prime Minister emphasizes achieving these goals while caring for both nature and culture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attributes India’s potential to achieve his vision to four factors; Democracy, Demography, Diversity, and Development. He emphasizes that stable governance and consistent policies have played a role, in the country’s progress since 2014.

Before 2014 India faced frequent leadership changes and unstable governments that hindered its progress. However, the decisive mandates given by the people in years have brought about a period of stability, predictability, and clarity in the nations direction.

The G20 summit holds significance as it represents a portion of global GDP (85%) international trade (75%) and the world population (65%). India took over the G20 presidency from Indonesia in November. Will pass it on to Brazil in December.

Prime Minister Modi expressed his pride in India G20 presidency. Highlighted the impacts it has had. With world leaders gathering in New Delhi for this summit, there is an opportunity to discuss and shape policies that can positively influence the landscape.
