NITI Aayog’s Special Campaign 2.0: A tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s clean India vision

In a heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a Clean India, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) initiated a special campaign for the disposal of pending matters from October 2nd to 31st, 2021. The success of this initiative led to its continuation in 2022 and beyond.

Under the banner of “Special Campaign 2.0,” this ongoing effort aims to ensure the timely and effective disposal of public grievances, references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, Inter-Ministerial Consultations, and Parliamentary Assurances by Ministries and Departments.

Taking up the mantle of this important campaign, the NITI Aayog and its attached offices, including the Development Monitoring & Evaluation Office (DMEO), Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) located in NITI Bhawan, and the autonomous institution, National Institute of Labour Economics Research and Development (NILERD) in Narela, New Delhi, have been actively involved.

The core focus of the campaign revolves around ensuring the timely and efficient handling of Public Grievances references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, Inter-Ministerial Consultations, and Parliamentary Assurances by Ministries and Departments. Moreover, it extends its commitment to cleanliness, both indoors and outdoors, and the disposal of office scrap, thereby optimizing available space within NITI Aayog.

One of the noteworthy achievements of this campaign has been the significant progress in the disposal of Public Grievances, Parliamentary Assurances, and PMO References. The systematic approach to record management has led to the review and weeding out of a substantial number of files, resulting in the clearance of valuable office space. In fact, more than 75% of the designated physical files have undergone thorough review. Additionally, the campaign has led to the disposal of nearly 95% of public grievances and appeals during the campaign period.

Notably, the campaign has also identified redundant scrap material and obsolete items for disposal, further contributing to the organization’s efficiency and resource optimization.

In essence, “Special Campaign 2.0” by NITI Aayog and its associated offices stands as a testament to the commitment towards Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a Clean India. It underscores the importance of effective administration, cleanliness, and responsible resource management, all of which are critical in realizing the dream of a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan – a clean and prosperous India. This campaign serves as a reminder that the principles and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi continue to inspire and guide us in pursuit
