The Delhi-NCR region experienced seismic tremors on Sunday afternoon, after a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Faridabad area.

As reported by the National Centre of Seismology, the earthquake’s epicenter was located 9 kilometers to the east of Faridabad and 30 kilometers southeast of Delhi.

Faridabad, Haryana, experienced an earthquake at 4:08 pm, with a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter Scale, reported National Center for Seismology (NCS), the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:3.1, Occurred on 15-10-2023, 16:08:16 IST, Lat: 28.41 & Long: 77.41, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 9km E of Faridabad, Haryana,” tweeted National Center for Siesmology on Sunday.

In the wake of these recent seismic events, it is worth noting that on October 3, the national capital experienced significant tremors. During that episode, Nepal was struck by a massive 6.2-magnitude earthquake, the effects of which extended to neighboring cities in the region, including Lucknow and Bareilly.

On the same day, there was a strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale in western Afghanistan. This occurred over a week after a series of robust earthquakes and subsequent aftershocks resulted in the tragic loss of thousands of lives and the complete destruction of entire villages in the same region.
