Football: UK & Ireland set to be named hosts of Euro 2028

Britain and Ireland’s bid to host Euro 2028 is expected to be confirmed by UEFA on Tuesday (October 10) at an event at their headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Ten stadiums across the five countries are part of the bid including Wembley Stadium in London, the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff, Hampden Park in Glasgow, the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and Belfast’s Casement Park. Meanwhile, Wembley is expected to host the final in 2028,

However, The Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales have never hosted a major tournament.

Germany will host the 2024 edition of the tournament with the last Championships being played in 2021.
