One dead and 11 injured in the earthquake that jolted the western part of Nepal yesterday

Multiple earthquakes jolted Sudurpaschim province of Nepal with Bajhang district as the epicentre yesterday. The largest earthquake recorded was 6.3 on the Richter scale. A person lost his life in the earthquake in Bajhang district. The deceased has been identified as Gunamati Dhami, 40, of Jayaprithvi municipality-11, Okhal. Dhami died when he was trapped in a landslide following the earthquake on Tuesday.

A police team has been mobilized to the incident site. Some 11 people were injured in the earthquake in Bajhang. Two of them returned home after treatment while nine are being treated at the district hospital.

Schools, government offices, hospitals and other buildings suffered extensive damage in Bajhang. Police informed that the earthquake caused damage to 135 structures in Bajhang district. At least 60 houses were damaged in Thalara and 41 houses in Jayaprithvi municipality. As per the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre in Nepal over 2000 earthquakes were recorded in Sudurpaschim Province in a span of one year.
