Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a nationwide cleanliness drive on October 1, leaders from various regions of India enthusiastically participated in the ‘Shramdaan for Cleanliness’ program as part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Chief JP Nadda, Ministers, and Members of Parliament actively engaged in cleanliness drive activities across the nation under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, led the cleanliness drive at Chhath Ghat, ITO in Delhi as part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.
The ‘Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ Campaign, a significant cleanliness initiative, serves as a cornerstone in commemorating Gandhi Jayanti. It sets the stage for the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada- Swachhata Hi Seva’ 2023 campaign, which aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s call for a one-hour ‘Shramdaan for swachhata’ by all citizens at 10 am on October 1st.
Every town, Gram Panchayat, and various government sectors, including civil aviation, railways, and public institutions, are actively facilitating cleanliness events led by citizens.
A dedicated portal has been established to assist organizations in organizing diverse events. This portal also extends invitations to influencers and citizens, encouraging them to become Swachhata Ambassadors and join this grassroots movement. Participants can share their involvement by uploading pictures on the portal to mark their presence.
This initiative carries forward the mission initiated by the Swachh Bharat Mission, launched on October 2, 2014, with the overarching goal of achieving open defecation-free status and universal sanitation coverage throughout the country.
