Singh pledged to promote practical, forward-looking, and result-oriented cooperation with ADMM-Plus to enhance maritime security in the region. Reaffirming India’s dedication to collaborating with ASEAN and its dialogue partners for ensuring peace, prosperity, and security, Singh quoted Mahatma Gandhi, stating, “there is no way to peace, peace is the only way.”
The defence minister expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of ASEAN member states in India-ASEAN activities. He highlighted initiatives such as the Initiative for Women in UN Peacekeeping Operations and the Initiative for Marine Plastic Pollution Response.
Recognizing the severity of terrorism as a threat to international peace and security, including within the ASEAN region, India proposed co-chairing the EWG on Counter-Terrorism.
