The Government has invited 100 beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma scheme from the Delhi-NCR region as special guests to witness the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15.
The beneficiaries will attend the national celebration along with their spouses or companions. The special guests include women artisans engaged in various traditional trades, highlighting their contribution to livelihoods and the preservation of India’s artisanal and cultural heritage.
The beneficiaries will also be presented with souvenirs in recognition of their contribution to traditional crafts. They will interact with officials of the Ministry of MSME on August 14 at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in Delhi.
The invited artisans represent the 18 traditional trades covered under the PM Vishwakarma scheme, including tailoring, carpentry, goldsmithing, blacksmithing and locksmithing. They have received benefits under the scheme, including registration, basic skill training and toolkits.
PM Vishwakarma is a flagship government initiative providing comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople engaged in traditional trades. The scheme provides assistance through skill upgradation, modern tools, financial support, digital enablement and market linkages.
According to the government, 30 lakh traditional artisans and craftspeople have been registered under the scheme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on August 15. This year’s ceremony will focus on 150 years of the National Song Vande Mataram and the contribution of ‘Yuva Shakti’ towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
For the first time, Vande Mataram will be rendered as part of the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort.
Around 5,000 special guests representing different sections of society and government programmes have been invited to witness the celebrations. They include women entrepreneurs supported under the PM Mudra Yojana, welfare scheme beneficiaries, sanitation workers, street vendors, innovators, scientists, start-up founders, youth trained under the PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, farmers, healthcare workers, Metro employees and beneficiaries of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Best-performing volunteers, students, interns, entrepreneurs and beneficiaries under various government programmes will also participate in the celebrations.
To facilitate visitors, 25 cloak rooms have been established at six locations, while 200 NCC and My Bharat volunteers will assist guests in reaching their designated enclosures.
Wheelchair assistance will be available at Metro stations and parking areas. Delhi Metro services will begin at 4 am on August 15, with free travel for invited guests carrying valid e-invitation QR codes.
Parking facilities will be available at Parade Ground for visitors with valid parking labels, while additional ramps and stairs have been installed to facilitate pedestrian movement.
