The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi), the international campus of IIT-Delhi, has introduced a new master’s program in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) at Zayed University. Starting in January 2024, the IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi’s ETS master’s program is designed for the Abu Dhabi campus, aiming to provide professionals and scholars in the energy industry and related sectors with knowledge and skills to implement sustainable approaches and solutions. The launch of this program coincides with the UAE’s hosting of COP28 and aligns with the country’s Year of Sustainability in 2023. In line with the UAE National Energy Strategy 2050, the master’s program seeks to cultivate graduates with an understanding of technology and policy frameworks to address challenges in energy transition.
IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi was established following a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by IIT-Delhi and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in July. Prospective students with backgrounds in science and engineering will undergo a two-year program at IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi. Proficiency in English and a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields are prerequisites. The selection process will ensure the admission of qualified candidates, emphasizing IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi’s commitment to education and sustainable practices in the energy landscape.
