Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Rajouri on Wednesday to assess the security situation following the recent terrorist attack in the border district of Poonch that claimed the lives of four Indian soldiers.
Last week, heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles near Thanamandi in the Rajouri sector, resulting in four Army personnel losing their lives, while three others sustained injuries.
Expressing concern for the injured soldiers, the defence minister assured that necessary steps are being taken in response to the severity of the incident. During his interaction with the troops in Rajouri, he emphasized the significance of every army personnel and strongly condemned any threat to their safety.
“I will pray for the speedy recovery of the army personnel who sustained injuries. I would like to ensure you that keeping in mind the severity of the incident, required steps are being taken. Each of our army personnel is important to us,” Singh said.
Affirming the government’s commitment to providing all essential support to strengthen the forces for future challenges, Singh said that both security forces and intelligence agencies are actively working to counter any security threats in the country.
Addressing the soldiers, the defence minister emphasized the need for heightened alertness, stating, “We cannot take any such event for granted.” He praised the bravery and sacrifices of the troops, acknowledging that no compensation could fully account for the loss of a martyr.
