Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Indian Art, Architecture & Design Biennale (IAADB) 2023 at the iconic Red Fort on December 8, 2023, at 4 PM. This event marks the realization of the Prime Minister’s vision to establish a flagship Global Cultural Initiative in India, akin to renowned international biennales in Venice, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Sydney, and Sharjah.

The IAADB, scheduled from December 9 to 15, 2023, serves as an introduction to the Cultural Space at Delhi, fostering a comprehensive dialogue among artists, architects, designers, photographers, collectors, and the public.

PM Modi will also inaugurate Aatmanirbhar Bharat Centre for Design at Red Fort and the student Biennale- Samunnati. It will showcase the unique and indigenous crafts of India and provide a collaborative space between the karigars and the designers. Paving the way for a sustainable cultural economy, it will empower the artisan communities with new designs and innovations.

A nationwide effort was undertaken to revamp and modernize museums, with cultural spaces developed in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Varanasi.

The biennale encompasses pavilions, panel discussions, art workshops, an art bazaar, heritage walks, and a parallel student biennale named Samunnati. Samunnati, hosted at Lalit Kala Akademi, provides a platform for students to showcase their work, engage with peers and professionals, and gain exposure within the architecture community through design competitions, heritage displays, installations, and workshops.

IAADB 2023 is a pivotal moment for India, marking its entry into the global biennale landscape. This initiative, aligned with previous endeavors like the International Museum Expo and Festival of Libraries, aims to fortify cultural dialogue and create opportunities for collaboration in the evolving economy.
