Bollywood’s award season kickstarted on Sunday night with the 69th edition of Filmfare Awards, held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The power couple of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt secured the top honours, winning the ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Actress’ awards, respectively. Vidhu Vinod Chopra was named Best Director for “12th Fail,” which was also crowned as the Best Film of the Year.
Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actor (Popular) for his performance in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal,’ while his wife Alia Bhatt earned the Best Actress (Popular) award for her role in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.’
Vikrant Massey, the lead actor of “12th Fail,” bagged the Best Actor (Critics) award, while veterans Shefali Shah and Rani Mukerji received the Best Actress (Critics) for ‘Three Of Us’ and ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway,’ respectively.
The Filmfare Awards, among the oldest in the country, annually celebrate the best of Hindi cinema, recognizing winners in both popular and critics’ categories.
This year’s event, hosted by Karan Johar and Ayushmann Khurrana, featured captivating performances by industry icons such as Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kartik Aaryan.
