The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has revealed the recipients of the prestigious ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar’ for the year 2023. The awardees, selected for their significant contributions to sports promotion and development, will be honored by the President Droupadi Murmu at a special function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 9.
The ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar’ is conferred upon corporate entities in both the private and public sectors, Sports Control Boards, NGOs, and sports bodies at the State and National levels that have played a visible role in promoting sports.
Applications for the awards were invited online, allowing sportspersons, coaches, and entities to self-apply through a dedicated online portal.
The ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar’ is one of the six core awards that constitute India’s National Sports Awards, along with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award (Khel Ratna), Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Major Dhyan Chand Award, and the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy (MAKA Trophy).
The Government has decided to confer the ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar’ for 2023.
Jain University in Bengaluru has been awarded in the category of Identification and nurturing of budding / young talent.
While, Odisha Mining Corporate Limited has been awarded the ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2023’ in the category of Encouragement to sports through Corporate Social Responsibility.
The recognition underlines the crucial role played by various organizations in fostering talent and promoting sports at different levels across the country.
