The ‘PM GatiShakti Summit: Towards Logistics Efficiency and Integrated Infrastructure Planning,’ organized by FICCI in collaboration with DPIIT, commenced with key dignitaries present on Tuesday.
In attendance were Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, DPIIT, Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary, Logistics Division, DPIIT, Shailesh K Pathak, Secretary-General, FICCI, Sandip Somany, former President, FICCI, and Chairman & Managing Director, Somany Impressa Group, and Amit Kumar, Co-Chair, FICCI Committee on Logistics and Director, Pristine Logistics & Infra projects Ltd.
Singh highlighted the transformative impact of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan on India’s logistics landscape, citing its role in structural reforms and macroeconomic development. He also emphasized positive effects on financial inclusion and the digital divide. Singh pointed out that PM GatiShakti, currently at the district level, will soon be promoted globally as a public good.
Dawra stressed the pivotal role of infrastructure and logistics in economic growth, citing the launch of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy. Reforms, including state logistics policies, land port management system, and digitization at ports, contributed to improved rankings on the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index.
The PM GatiShakti program was lauded for its contribution to integrated planning, next-generation infrastructure, and people-centric development, showcasing use cases in sectors like telecom, petroleum, and renewable energy. The program aids in reducing last and first mile gaps, minimizing disruption to natural resources, avoiding infrastructure duplication, and promoting capacity sharing. Investment opportunities in robotics, logistics, warehousing, waste reduction, and packaging were highlighted.
A panel discussion on “PM GatiShakti and Comprehensive Area Development Approach” explored cross-sectoral investments, while sessions on Digital Infrastructure & Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) and Green Logistics discussed the development of an integrated gateway and best practices for sustainable development, respectively.
The summit brought stakeholders together to foster data-driven decision-making for comprehensive and sustainable growth, offering insights and recommendations to maximize the impact of the PM GatiShakti initiative on Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business.
