Vishwa Hindi Divas Celebrated today in Kathmandu Valley by Embassy of India in Nepal and Tribhuvan University

Embassy of India, Kathmandu in association with Central Hindi Department, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu celebrated Vishwa Hindi Diwas at Embassy premises on 10th January, 2024. Hon’ble Chairman of Language Commision, Government of Nepal Dr Gopal Thakur graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Deputy Chief of Mission Shri Prasanna Shrivastava read the message of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri NarendraModi on this occasion.

As a celebration through the universal language of poetry, ‘Nepal-Bharat Kavi Sammelan’ was organized on the occasion which was presided over by renowned poet from India Shri Dixit Dankauri who captivated the audience by his eloquent ghazals. The event served as a platform for Indian and Nepali poets to express their poetic thoughts, emotions and experiences through the eloquence of words giving the message of peace, harmony and friendship. Kavi Sammelan is an age-old tradition that has been a cornerstone of India’s rich cultural and literary tapestry.

Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya and Modern Indian School, Kathmandu also recited Hindi poems. Nepali students of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre gave a theatrical performance on Mahabharat in Hindi which was well received by the audience. Deputy Chief of Mission and the Chief Guest felicitated the poets, students and theatre artists who performed on the occasion.

A musical programme of popular Hindi songs was also presented by music students of SVCC in the second leg of the programme organized at the Central Library of Tribhuvan University.

More than 200 literary dignitaries, poetry enthusiasts and cultural aficionados from different walks of life attended the programme.
